Goal!!!!! Hamburg!! - Day 1 / Start of Day 2

This was Danae's meal

Night number two had us again exploring the neighborhoods surrounding our hotel. We ended up at a Thai (surprise!) restaurant. I had the best tasting ceviche that wasn't ceviche I've ever had. It was pork, but the taste was right on. Throw in some Thai peppers and it was amazing. In fact, every meal we've had in Thailand had has been wonderful. The food is the main reason why we came here.

My not quite civiche
We walked down Soi 23, or what I have dubbed "Prostitute Alley." The very same that was shown in Hangover 2. I got one quick picture, but I was afraid of a big bouncer ripping my camera from my hands so I put it away. There were about 25 bars with neon lights that would make Las Vegas envious. At each bar, throngs of Thai women (sometimes ladyboys) stood in front wearing skimpy clothing trying to lure in their customers. They usually called out to their would-be clients. I never got called out. I told Danae that her reputation preceded her and the women knew better than going after her man.

We went to a couple more bars (not on Prostitute Alley) before settling back at the Penalty Kick (same bar as night before). Polk was not working, she must of been living it up on her 500 baht tip from us from the night before.

Prostitution Alley
The bar was kind of packed, so we allowed a group of German ex-pats to sit with us. They were there for the Dortmund v. Hamburg match. The table was divided. The guy next to me, Boris (tall Blond guy in the photo), was from Hamburg, so I decided to start rooting for them. Good choice too, because our boys won 3 to nil!

They lived in Bangkok. Since they knew the bar owner, he kept the bar open for us to watch the entire match. Normally they close at 2, but we were there until nearly 4. You can tell by the stacked stools in the background. At the end of the match, one of the Hamburg fans was overjoyed and picked up the tab on everybody's drinks! I wont reveal how many drinks we had (partially because I don't remember) but I know it wasn't cheap.

Our Germany Friends
On the walk home, we stopped at a 7/11, which are numerous throughout Thailand. I needed a pepsi and a hot dog (my first American food I've had).   By the way, it's very hard finding diet soda (aka Coke Light) in Thailand. I've drink more regular soda these past 2 days than I have in the past two years. Anyways, the point of the 7/11 story is that there was a stray dog walking around the store. Could you imagine that in the US? It was kind of funny actually.

We had a fun but we paid for it the next day. We must have still been suffering from jet lag because we slept in until 2PM! Fortunately, we are in Asia for almost 3 weeks, so half a day sleeping doesn't impact our trip that much. Besides, to further relax, Danae and I had a couples massage. It was only 30 bucks for the two of us to have an oil massage that lasted an hour. We each had our own massage lady. Danae's was actually pretty rough with her thumbs in Danae's lower back. She ended up being sore the next day. Mine was awesome, except for the times she jammed her thumbs into the soft spots of my skull.  They put us both in the same room, played soft noises, and dimmed the lights. After our massage, they served us tea.
